Do not scratch the heating conductors while cleaning the inside of the rear glass. Stop/Start is unavailable during rear-demister use.

THE QUICK ANSWER

The rear-window demister operates with the engine running. One press turns it on, illuminates its indicator and also heats the outside mirrors where fitted. It normally switches itself off after about 20 minutes.

Step by step

1Start normallyStart the engine in a ventilated location. Locate the rear-window demister switch on the climate controls.
2Switch heating onPress the demister switch and check the indicator. Allow condensation or frost on the rear glass to clear.
3Switch off when clearPress the same switch again to stop heating early, or let the approximately 20-minute timer turn it off.
