XC60 CarPlay not connecting? Start here.
Separate a connection problem from a compatibility question. This checklist starts with the cable and phone before changing vehicle settings.
Vehicle-specific steps are checked against the 2018 UK XC60 Sensus manual. This is not a wireless CarPlay retrofit guide. For another year or system, confirm its USB port and setup in the matching manual.
Confirm CarPlay support, try a direct USB cable, and open CarPlay on the display. In the 2018 UK XC60 example, use the white-framed USB port when two are fitted.
Check the starting point
Park the car. Confirm your vehicle and region support CarPlay, and update your iPhone. A charging phone alone does not establish that CarPlay is connected.
Work through the connection
Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.
If it still will not connect
Restart the iPhone and car, then retest. Record the model year, phone model, iOS version and exact symptom before contacting support. That makes “never connects” easier to distinguish from “one app stops working.”
Common questions
Should I troubleshoot this as Bluetooth audio?+
The 2018 UK manual describes USB CarPlay and says the Bluetooth connection is unavailable while CarPlay is active. Follow the instructions for your system.
Will these steps add CarPlay to a car without it?+
No. First confirm that the vehicle has CarPlay support. A connection checklist does not install missing equipment.
