How to put your XC90 wipers in service position
Changing a blade starts with getting the wipers within reach. Match the menu below to your car before lifting an arm.
This path is checked against the 2026 US manual (25w46). Older XC90 screens can use a different menu. Check the manual for your vehicle if yours looks different.
Use Settings → Controls → Mirrors and wipers → Wipers → Wiper service position. Lower the arms onto the glass before switching the setting off.
Before you start
Park before using the display. Leave the arms on the glass until the service setting has moved them into reach.
Activate the service position
Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.
Return the wipers to normal
After the work, lower both arms gently onto the windshield. Then turn off the service setting in the display. Volvo also lists operating the wipers or washers, or driving, as ways to exit.
Common questions
Is this the same as resetting a service reminder?+
No. This setting positions the front wipers for access. It is unrelated to the maintenance reminder.
