How to prepare the XPENG G9 battery before a fast-charging stop

A suitable battery temperature is one factor in DC charging performance. The G9 can condition the battery before arrival when its navigation is taking you to a fast-charging station.

Checked on 27 October 2026 against XPENG’s 2025 English G9 manual for XOS V5.6.0, printed pages 296–297. Chinese-market owner reports identify the question; they do not establish a common defect, a guaranteed fix, or matching export equipment. Stop if your car’s controls differ.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Open Settings → Charging and Discharging → Charging and enable Temperature Control before Fast Charging. Use the car’s navigation to the fast charger. The manual also describes Battery temperature conditioning now for a familiar station without navigation.

Before you start

Choose a compatible charger and preserve a sensible arrival reserve. Charging power also depends on battery level, temperature, charger capability and station conditions. Do not copy a domestic forum’s guaranteed power figure or mandatory waiting time into your trip plan.

Enable conditioning for the charging stop

Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.

Check the result

At the station, start charging normally and assess the actual session. Preconditioning does not guarantee maximum charger output. If charging is persistently limited, record the starting percentage, weather, conditioning setting, charger identification and any warning for support.

Chinese owner report — anecdotal context

A Chinese G9 owner discussion connects charging speed with thermal preparation and navigation. Unverified power increases, fixed cooling delays and battery-longevity claims from that post are not included as instructions. Report dated 2026-05-22; domestic-market anecdote.

Common questions

Does the feature only heat the battery?+

The manual says it can heat or cool the battery to suit charging conditions.

Does it guarantee the advertised peak power?+

No. It prepares battery temperature; it cannot remove every limitation imposed by battery state or the charging station.
