How to adjust the steering wheel in a Kia EV4

The EV4 steering-column release lets you adjust both reach and angle. Set the position before driving, then check the column is securely locked rather than relying on the lever position alone.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Pull the steering-column lock-release lever down, adjust the wheel forwards/backwards and to the required angle, then pull the lever up and check that the wheel is locked.

Before you start

Stop and park before using the release. Kia warns against adjusting steering-wheel height or angle while driving. Choose a position from which the instruments and required controls remain usable.

Follow these steps

Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.

Check the result

If the lever does not lock immediately, the manual says two gears may be meeting. Adjust the wheel again and then lock it, checking the result before driving. Persistent inability to secure the wheel needs attention.

Common questions

Can I adjust the wheel while moving?+

No. Kia explicitly warns against changing the angle and height while driving.

What if the release lever will not lock?+

Readjust and try locking again as the manual describes, then verify the column is secure.
