How to turn i-Pedal on and off in a Kia EV4
For this EV4 manual, a held left paddle is the i-Pedal command. Check the cluster symbol to distinguish an active i-Pedal setting from an ordinary regenerative-braking level.
Checked against the MY2027 English owner manual for this model on 27 October 2026. Equipment and software can differ; use the instructions and controls fitted to your own vehicle.
Pull and hold the left paddle for approximately one second to enable i-Pedal. Hold it again for about one second to turn it off, checking the i-Pedal symbol in the cluster.
Before you change the setting
Learn the control before driving and use it only in appropriate conditions. Keep the brake available: Kia warns that i-Pedal may not stop the car in all road or vehicle conditions, particularly around steep slopes or repeated incline starts.
Work through the controls
Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.
Check the result
The reverse preference changes how i-Pedal returns after a gear change. Avoid diagnosing a missing symbol without checking that setting and the current speed. The manual also lists situations where the function does not operate and instructs the driver to use the brake whenever needed.
Common questions
Can I rely on it to stop on every slope?+
No. Kia explicitly warns against relying solely on i-Pedal and lists steep-slope limitations.
Is the right paddle the on/off command here?+
The MY2027 CT1 manual specifies holding the left paddle for the documented i-Pedal on/off action.
