How to heat the rear window and mirrors in a Kia EV4

The rear-window defroster also operates the EV4’s documented outside-mirror defogging function. You can therefore use one climate control when moisture or frost is affecting those rearward views.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Touch the rear-window defroster icon. Its indicator illuminates while active, and the system switches off after approximately 20 minutes or when the vehicle is turned off.

Before you start

Identify the rear-window symbol before setting off; it is a separate function from front-windscreen airflow. Check the actual glass and mirror surfaces before driving.

Follow these steps

Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.

Check the result

The documented automatic stop is about 20 minutes. Turning the vehicle off also stops the function, and switching back to POWER ON or DRIVE READY does not restore that previous defroster operation automatically.

Common questions

Do the outside mirrors have a separate step in this procedure?+

The manual says their defogging operates with rear-window defogging.

Will it resume after I restart the vehicle?+

The manual says it returns to off after the vehicle has been switched off.
