How to release a locked Leapmotor C10 charging plug

The charging connector has a lock. Pulling harder can damage it, especially when an AC session has not been stopped and unlocked correctly.

Checked against the English BEV manual linked below. China-market reports identify the owner question; they do not establish an export defect, a recall or a guaranteed fix. Match the handbook and equipment in your car, and follow current on-screen instructions where software differs.

THE QUICK ANSWER

End charging using the charger’s instructions. For AC, unlock the vehicle or use the slow-charging-plug unlock control in Settings → Charging. For DC, follow the fast charger’s stop/unlock procedure. Contact the operator or dealer if the connector stays locked.

The China-market owner report

A Chinese C10 owner’s usage post warns about different AC and DC connector locking arrangements. Chinese connector hardware is not the export connector specification, so the operating steps here come from the export handbook.

Before you start

Use dry hands and stand clear of water. If there is damage, smoke, a burning smell or abnormal heat, stop and seek assistance instead of touching or forcing the connection.

What to check

Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.

Check the result

Normal release should not require force. Emergency release is a separate, vehicle-specific procedure; this guide does not instruct you to dismantle trim or handle charging-system components.

Common questions

Can I use the AC unlock button for a DC station?+

The checked manual directs fast-charger unlocking to the charging station.

Should I pull harder after unlocking?+

No. A connector that remains trapped needs assistance, not increased force.

SOURCES & SCOPE

Where this guide comes from

Operating steps are checked against manufacturer documentation; Chinese owner discussions are labelled as anecdotal reports. They identify questions, not the prevalence or cause of a fault. Reviewed on 27 October 2026. This is a source-based guide, not a claim of hands-on vehicle testing.
