How to open or close the Volvo EX60 trunk with a foot movement
One deliberate movement works better than repeatedly waving a foot under the bumper. Check the key and the area around the hatch first, particularly in a low garage or crowded parking space.
Checked against the US EX60 2027 manual on 27 October 2026. Match the controls to your car and use its current in-car instructions if a software update changes the screen.
Carry a charged distance-capable key, make one kicking motion under the rear bumper and step back. A short sound precedes opening; the same hands-free movement can also request closing.
Check the key and hatch clearance
Keep people and objects out of the hatch’s travel. Have a charged distance-capable key with you. A key card is not automatically equivalent to a distance-capable key for this function, so use the key type required by the manual.
Request hands-free opening
Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.
If the hatch does not respond
Repeated movements can cancel or reset activation. Mud or another sensor obstruction can interfere. The manual says three beeps during a closing attempt can indicate that a distance-capable key is missing. Check those conditions before repeating the request.
Common questions
Can the same movement close the hatch?+
Yes. The documented hands-free close request produces warning beeps before the hatch moves.
Does using the feature unlock every door?+
The locking settings can determine whether it unlocks only the trunk or all doors.
