XC60 service reminder: what to do next

Read the full message before searching for a reset. A scheduled-maintenance reminder and a fault requiring attention are different jobs.

CHECK YOUR CARMessage examples: 2021 UK · acknowledgement: 2016 Canada

This guide explains messages using the 2021 UK and 2016 Canadian XC60 manuals. It does not provide a verified manual-reset sequence for every generation.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Check the exact wording, compare it with your maintenance records, and arrange any due work. If the service has just been completed, ask the workshop to confirm the work and the correct reminder reset.

Identify the message

The 2021 UK manual distinguishes these scheduled-maintenance messages:

Book time for maintenanceArrange the next scheduled service.
Time for maintenanceThe scheduled service date has arrived.
Maintenance overdueThe scheduled date has passed.

“Service required” and “Service urgent” are separate messages with instructions to have the car checked promptly or immediately. Follow the complete message.

Work out the next action

Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.

Does pressing OK reset the interval?

The 2016 Canadian manual describes OK as a way to acknowledge and browse messages. It does not present that action as a service-interval reset. A message disappearing from view is not proof that the interval has been reset.

Why there is no universal reset sequence

The owner-manual pages below explain the messages but do not supply a complete reset procedure. We have not verified one across XC60 generations. Use a procedure confirmed for your exact vehicle; do not substitute instructions for resetting its display or trip odometer.

Common questions

Does a reset replace scheduled maintenance?+

No. Deal with the required work before treating the reminder as a reset task.

Is a reset always dealer-only?+

This guide does not establish that. The correct method must be confirmed for the specific vehicle.
