How to connect an XPENG G6 to your phone’s Wi-Fi hotspot

If you want the G6 to use your phone’s internet connection, connect the car as a Wi-Fi client. This is the opposite direction from enabling the car’s own hotspot for passengers.

Checked on 27 October 2026 against XPENG’s 2025 English LHD G6 manual for XOS V5.8.0, printed pages 62–63. Chinese-market owner reports identify the question; they do not establish a common defect, a guaranteed fix, or matching export equipment. Stop if your car’s controls differ.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Enable a personal hotspot on the phone, then open Settings → Device Connection on the G6. Turn on the wireless network, select your hotspot and enter its password. Confirm the Wi-Fi indication before testing an online feature.

Before you start

Park and check that your phone plan permits tethering. Choose a protected hotspot rather than leaving it open, and keep its password private. The domestic owner discussion does not establish any data allowance or subscription included with an international G6.

Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.

Check the result

A connected Wi-Fi indicator confirms the wireless link, while the successful online test checks the internet path. If the phone disconnects when its screen locks, review its hotspot settings; do not change the car’s digital-key pairing to solve Wi-Fi.

Chinese owner report — anecdotal context

A G6 owner in China described using an iPhone hotspot after running short of the domestic vehicle’s data. Their phone automation and allowance are not assumed to apply to your car or tariff. Report dated 2024-12-26; domestic-market anecdote.

Common questions

Is this the same as the G6’s on-board hotspot?+

No. Here the phone supplies internet to the car; an on-board hotspot lets other devices connect to the car.

Does Bluetooth pairing provide Wi-Fi internet?+

No. Connect the phone hotspot through the wireless-network list.
