XPENG G6 screen too bright at night: adjust brightness and display mode

A bright central display can be uncomfortable after dark even when the instrument display looks acceptable. Check brightness and day/night mode as separate settings before assuming that the display is faulty.

Checked on 27 October 2026 against XPENG’s 2025 English LHD G6 manual for XOS V5.8.0, printed pages 34–35. Chinese-market owner reports identify the question; they do not establish a common defect, a guaranteed fix, or matching export equipment. Stop if your car’s controls differ.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Open Settings → Display. Adjust the touchscreen and instrument-display sliders, then select Night Mode or the automatic day/night option. Keep essential driving information clearly readable.

Before you start

Make adjustments while parked in lighting similar to the conditions that bother you. Note the starting settings so you can compare them. Do not dim the instrument display until warning messages, speed and other essential information become difficult to read.

Adjust brightness, then the display mode

Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.

Check the result

Both screens should remain readable without unnecessary glare. If one screen flickers, goes blank or cannot be adjusted, record which screen is affected and the XOS version. Those symptoms need a different investigation from ordinary night-mode preference.

Chinese owner report — anecdotal context

A Chinese G6 interior report discusses night-time screen appearance and automatic brightness. It provides ownership context rather than a measured brightness test of every display or software release. Report dated 2023-07-23; domestic-market anecdote.

Common questions

Are brightness and Night Mode the same setting?+

No. Brightness uses separate sliders; day/night mode changes the display presentation and switching behaviour.

Will this fix a black or flickering display?+

No. This procedure addresses a working screen that is too bright; persistent display faults need support.
