How to use AUTO climate control in a Kia EV2

AUTO lets the EV2 manage several climate functions together. Start with a temperature setting, then change only the control you actually need to override.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Tap AUTO on the climate display and use the temperature-control lever to choose the desired cabin temperature. The system then manages airflow, fan speed, air intake and air conditioning automatically.

Before you change the setting

Set the basic climate controls while parked. Keep the sensor on the instrument panel uncovered, because items over it can interfere with temperature control. A selected temperature is a comfort target rather than a measurement of the cabin at that moment.

Work through the controls

Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.

Check the result

If the airflow is not what you expected, first check whether you manually changed one part of the climate system. Kia describes the selected function as manual while the remaining functions continue automatically. Re-select AUTO when you want the combined automatic operation again.

Common questions

Must I choose fan speed separately in AUTO?+

The system controls fan speed automatically when AUTO is operating.

Can a covered dashboard sensor affect the result?+

Yes. The manual specifically says not to place anything over the climate sensor on the instrument panel.
