How to turn off delayed headlights on a Kia EV2
Headlights staying on briefly after you leave may be the EV2’s delay feature. Use the documented switch-off controls before treating that behaviour as an electrical fault.
Checked against the MY2027 English owner manual for this model on 27 October 2026. Equipment and software can differ; use the instructions and controls fitted to your own vehicle.
To end the delayed lighting, press the smart-key lock button twice or select OFF on the light switch. AUTO will not switch the lamps off when it is dark outside.
Before you change the setting
Park and check which lights remain on. Keep the key available and locate the light switch before leaving. This article explains the delay behaviour; it does not diagnose a lamp that remains on despite the documented controls.
Work through the controls
Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.
Check the result
Kia describes a shorter delay after the vehicle is off and the driver’s door has been opened and closed. Exiting through a different door can prevent automatic shutoff and discharge the 12-volt battery, so switch the lamps off manually in that situation.
Common questions
Why did AUTO leave the headlights on?+
AUTO can keep them on in dark conditions. The manual explicitly notes this exception.
Can I disable the delay feature?+
The manual lists an infotainment Settings option, but does not provide a complete deeper path on this page.
