How to schedule off-peak charging on a Kia EV2
A cheap-rate window and a ready-to-leave time answer different questions. The EV2 lets you define when electricity is cheapest and when you expect to use the car; its two off-peak options decide how strictly it follows that window.
Checked against the MY2027 EV2 English UK manual. Scheduled charging is documented for AC and a portable ICCB charger, and the cable must be connected at the scheduled time. Use your actual electricity tariff; the car does not establish your supplier’s cheap-rate hours.
In the EV menu, set your next departure time and day, then open Charging and climate and the scheduled charging controls. Enter the off-peak start and end times and choose whether charging must stay inside that window or may continue outside it.
Have the tariff window ready
Check your electricity plan for the start and end of its lower-rate period. Keep those times separate from the time you want to leave. Configure the car while parked, then check the final schedule on the display before relying on the first overnight session.
Set the charging window
Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.
Which off-peak option should you choose?
The tariffs-only option can leave charging unfinished if the window is too short. The prioritised option can use electricity outside the cheap window to complete charging, so it can also use a different tariff. Compare the priority you selected with your next journey rather than treating the two options as interchangeable.
Need to charge immediately?
When a schedule is causing the delay, Kia documents holding the charging button at the charging door for two seconds to request immediate charging. You can also deactivate the schedule through the infotainment system or the supported Kia app. A schedule override is not a repair for a damaged cable or a charger fault.
Common questions
Can I use this schedule at a DC rapid charger?+
This owner’s manual describes scheduled charging for an AC charger or portable ICCB charger. Do not assume its timer will govern a DC public charging session.
Why did it stop below my target during the cheap period?+
If tariffs-only charging is selected, a short window can prevent completion. Check the saved time window, the selected off-peak option and the battery target before the next session.
Will plugging in always start charging straight away?+
No. With a schedule active, the EV2 can wait instead. Check the schedule before treating a delayed start as a fault.
