How to set the charging limit on a Kia EV2
If your EV2 stops below the level you expected, check its charge target before blaming the charger. The car has settings for AC and DC charging, so checking only one can leave the other unchanged.
This follows the MY2027 EV2 QV1 English UK manual, checked on 27 October 2026. A 2026 registration does not identify its software or equipment. This article explains the controls; it does not prescribe one battery-care percentage for every EV2 battery.
Open the EV menu and its EV settings, then find the charging-limit controls. Select the AC or DC target you want to change and choose the required percentage in 10-point steps.
Identify which charging target matters
Make the change while parked. AC is the setting to check for a normal home wallbox; DC is the setting to check before a rapid-charging stop. Look at the current battery percentage as well as the target, so you can compare them directly.
Choose the charge target
Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.
Why the EV2 may not start charging
Kia states that charging does not take place when the chosen target is below the battery’s present charge level. For example, an 80% target with an 85% battery is a setting to investigate before repeatedly reconnecting the cable.
When diagnosing a charging problem, write down the current percentage, the target for the charger you are using, and whether a schedule is active. Our EV2 off-peak charging guide explains the separate timer controls.
Common questions
Does changing the AC limit automatically change DC charging?+
The manual provides targets for AC and DC charging. Check each control rather than assuming that changing one has updated both.
Why is there no recommendation to use 80% every day?+
This tutorial covers operation of the limit control. Follow the battery-care guidance supplied for your exact vehicle instead of applying a universal percentage based only on the EV2 name.
What if the screen labels have changed?+
Kia warns that infotainment software updates can change the interface. Consult the in-car infotainment manual or quick reference guide if the documented EV settings screen differs.
