How to change the AC charging current in a Kia EV4
Charging current and the battery’s final percentage are different settings. The EV4’s AC current control affects the charging process, so find it before changing the charge target instead.
Checked against the MY2027 English owner manual for this model on 27 October 2026. Equipment and software can differ; use the instructions and controls fitted to your own vehicle.
Open EV settings and its AC charging settings, then Charging current. Select an appropriate option for the charging equipment and vehicle instructions.
Before you change the setting
Use a charging installation and cable suitable for the vehicle. Do not guess the electrical rating of a socket or circuit. If the installation’s allowable supply is uncertain, obtain the charger or installer’s instructions before adjusting the setting.
Work through the controls
Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.
Check the result
The manual says the chosen current can affect charging time. At some AC chargers with capacity above what the car can receive, changing this setting may not change the observed current. A setting is not permission to exceed the cable, installation or vehicle rating.
Common questions
Does this set a DC rapid charger’s output?+
The cited setting is specifically for AC charging.
Why might the measured current stay the same?+
Kia describes some high-capacity AC chargers where a changed selection may not alter the actual current received.
