How to open and close the charging door on a Kia EV4
A locked EV4 can explain why the charging flap does not open when pressed. Check the door-lock state before pulling on the panel or assuming that the charging-port mechanism has failed.
Checked against the MY2027 English owner manual for this model on 27 October 2026. Equipment and software can differ; use the instructions and controls fitted to your own vehicle.
Unlock the vehicle, press the centre edge of the charging door, and pull the cover fully open towards the front of the car. Close it with a light press and check it sits securely.
Before you start
Park safely before approaching the port. The manual says the charging door will not open while the vehicle doors are locked. This procedure covers the flap, not the separate charging-connector release.
Follow these steps
Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.
Check the result
The cover should sit in its original closed position after the final light press. If a panel is resisting, revisit the lock state and the correct procedure instead of using extra force.
Common questions
