How to set AC and DC charging limits in a Kia EV4
If the EV4 stops charging earlier than you intended, check which charger-type target is selected. The manual gives AC and DC their own target controls.
Checked against the MY2027 English owner manual for this model on 27 October 2026. Equipment and software can differ; use the instructions and controls fitted to your own vehicle.
Open the EV menu and EV settings, then Charging limit. Choose the relevant AC or DC target and adjust the battery percentage in 10-point steps.
Before you change the setting
Use the MY2027 CT1 manual selected for your car. Make changes while parked, compare the battery’s current level with the target, and identify whether the connection you plan to use is AC or DC.
Work through the controls
Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.
Check the result
Kia states that charging will not take place when the selected target is below the charge already in the battery. Compare those values before reconnecting repeatedly or assuming that the charging station is faulty. A charge target is a limit, not an instruction to discharge the battery.
Common questions
Will a target below the current battery level start a charge?+
The cited manual says it will not.
Is one percentage prescribed for every EV4 journey?+
This tutorial explains the control. Follow the battery-care and journey guidance for your exact vehicle when choosing a target.
