How to prepare the Kia EV4 battery for DC charging
An equipped EV4 can prepare battery temperature before reaching a rapid charger. Select the stop in the car’s navigation so the system can consider the arrival time.
Checked against the MY2027 English owner manual for this model on 27 October 2026. Equipment and software can differ; use the instructions and controls fitted to your own vehicle.
For a car fitted with the battery heater, set a DC station as a navigation destination or waypoint. Battery Conditioning can manage temperature for arrival; its EV setting also offers manual operation and status.
Before you change the setting
Check the battery-heater equipment and the remaining charge. Plan the DC stop in the vehicle’s navigation, rather than assuming a destination in a separate phone app invokes the documented preparation workflow.
Work through the controls
Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.
Check the result
The function can remain off when the battery is already suitably warm or when charge is low enough that preserving driving range takes priority. Preparing temperature also uses energy. A prepared battery still cannot make a limited or busy charging station deliver a guaranteed power level.
Common questions
Is cabin heating the same setting?+
No. This feature concerns the high-voltage battery’s temperature for DC charging.
Does every EV4 have the required hardware?+
