How to set the V2L battery reserve in a Kia EV4
Before using the EV4 to supply an external device, choose how much battery charge should remain for driving. Its V2L minimum is a discharge limit rather than a charging target.
Checked against the MY2027 English owner manual for this model on 27 October 2026. Equipment and software can differ; use the instructions and controls fitted to your own vehicle.
Open the EV menu’s V2L controls and Electricity Usage settings (V2L). Set Min.% to the battery reserve you want the car to retain; the vehicle stops supplying V2L power when that level is reached.
Before you change the setting
Check the current charge and your onward journey. Use only suitable V2L equipment and loads within the documented vehicle limits. Do not use it for medical equipment or devices that require an uninterrupted supply, because vehicle conditions can stop power.
Work through the controls
Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.
Check the result
A battery-level-reached message means the discharge limit has been met. Check the current battery and saved minimum before assuming a connector fault. Do not lower the reserve merely to silence the message without considering the energy needed to leave the site.
Common questions
Will V2L keep supplying power below the saved minimum?+
The manual says the supply is automatically cut when the limit is reached.
Does this setting increase the appliance power rating?+
No. It sets a battery reserve. The separate equipment and maximum-load restrictions still apply.
