Change the MBUX system language in a Mercedes GLA
An unfamiliar menu language can make a simple setting hard to find. Keep the documented path handy before opening the system settings.
Checked against the Canadian 2024 GLA SUV H247 manual, printed page 257. This path applies to that MBUX layout; do not assume that every Mercedes generation has an identical settings menu.
On the MBUX home screen, open Settings → System → Language. Choose the required language from the available list.
Before changing the setting
Make the change while parked so you can check the menu labels without distraction. If you share the car, let the other driver know which language you selected.
Select the system language
Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.
What the setting affects
The manual says the system language controls menu displays and navigation announcements, and affects the characters available for entry. Navigation announcements are not provided in every language; when a language is unavailable for announcements, English is used.
Common questions
Do I need a factory reset to change the language?+
No. Use the Language menu described here; the procedure does not involve the system Reset option.
What if I cannot find this path?+
Confirm the model, market and multimedia system in your vehicle’s manual before following another car’s instructions.
