Set the tailgate opening height on your Mercedes GLC
A lower garage ceiling calls for a deliberate height check. Save an opening limit only after checking the tailgate’s clearance along its full path.
Checked against the US MY2024 GLC SUV manual, printed pages 82 and 87. This is the SUV’s power-tailgate procedure, not a universal instruction for GLC Coupe or earlier X253 cars.
Stop the tailgate at a suitable position in the upper half of its travel. Hold the closing button on the tailgate until one short tone confirms the saved opening limit.
Check the available space
Switch off the engine. Check above and behind the tailgate for obstacles and keep people clear. The documented adjustment range lies in the upper half of travel, ending shortly before the fully open position.
Save the opening limit
Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.
Restore the full range
Hold the same closing button until two short tones sound to deactivate the limiter. For a single full opening after the tailgate stops at its saved position, pull the outside tailgate handle again.
Common questions
Can I save any opening height?+
No. Follow the adjustment range specified above and in the linked manual.
Does one tone mean the same thing as two tones?+
No. In this procedure, one short tone confirms the limit; two short tones confirm its deactivation.
