How to turn automatic courtesy lights on in a Polestar 5
If opening a door leaves the cabin dark, check the courtesy-light preference. It controls the automatic cabin response to opening a door.
Checked against the UK model-year 2026 Polestar 5 manual on 27 October 2026. Match the display and fitted equipment to your car before following these instructions. Optional comfort features may be absent.
Open top-bar settings → Settings → Interior → Lights → Courtesy lights and turn the feature on or off.
Before you start
Park before using the display. Decide whether you want the interior lights to respond automatically when a door opens.
Follow the controls
Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.
Check the result
The saved choice governs the courtesy-light behaviour. Check it the next time a door is opened while safely parked, particularly if another driver uses a different preference.
Common questions
Is this the exterior automatic-headlight setting?+
No. Courtesy lights are the interior lights that respond to opening a door.
Why might someone turn this off?+
