How to set a charging limit in the Polestar 5
Before the next plug-in, check which battery target the car will use. The useful setting is the percentage stored in the charging view, rather than the percentage already in the battery.
Checked against the UK Polestar 5 model-year 2026 online manual on 27 October 2026. Use the charging advice shown by your car when choosing a target; this guide does not prescribe one percentage for every journey.
Open the top-bar settings, choose Settings, then Charge → Car → Charging limit. Select the battery level you want; the car keeps that target until you change it.
Choose the target for this trip
Work through the display while parked. Decide whether you are preparing for routine use or a longer journey, then read the charging advice in the car. A target is an instruction for the charging session; it is not a measurement of the charge currently available.
Change the stored charging target
Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.
If charging stops below your target
Compare the saved target with the charging station’s own message. The manual says some charging points can end a session below 100% because of their safety limits. A different finishing percentage therefore does not, on its own, show that the car forgot your setting.
Common questions
Can I change the target in the Polestar app?+
The UK manual also lists the Polestar app as a way to change the battery target. The steps here use the car display.
Does choosing a high target remove the charging advice?+
When the limit is in the 90–100% range, the car shows advice about daily use and longer trips. Read that advice before confirming your choice.
