How to adjust automatic wiper sensitivity on an XPENG G6

If automatic wiping starts too late or sweeps more often than you want, check both the stalk position and the sensitivity setting. The automatic system remains an aid; you must keep the windscreen clear.

Checked on 27 October 2026 against XPENG’s 2025 English LHD G6 manual for XOS V5.8.0, printed pages 228–230. Chinese-market owner reports identify the question; they do not establish a common defect, a guaranteed fix, or matching export equipment. Stop if your car’s controls differ.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Set the front wiper switch to AUTO. On the central display, open Settings → Window & Door and adjust automatic wiper sensitivity. Use the manual wiper controls whenever the automatic response does not maintain visibility.

Before you start

Make the menu adjustment while safely parked. Check for dirt, snow or ice on the glass and blades before testing. Frozen or stuck blades need clearing first; changing sensitivity will not solve a physical obstruction or damaged rubber.

Set AUTO and compare the response

Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.

Check the result

Choose a setting that keeps your view clear in the present rain. If wiping remains erratic, record the weather, selected sensitivity and whether manual wiping works. Scraping, streaking or chatter may need blade or glass attention rather than another software adjustment.

Chinese owner report — anecdotal context

A G6 owner’s 3,000 km report describes unsatisfactory automatic timing and a wet windscreen before wiping starts. The report motivates the control check but does not establish a universal sensor fault. Report dated 2024-12-15; domestic-market anecdote.

Common questions

Can I depend on AUTO in every shower?+

No. The manual requires the driver to adjust wiping manually when necessary.

Should AUTO stay on in a car wash?+

No. Switch automatic wiping off before washing to prevent unexpected blade movement.
