How to set the XPENG G6 tailgate opening height
A low garage ceiling or pipe can sit in the tailgate’s opening path. Set an appropriate opening limit while there is ample room, and check the space every time you use a different parking position.
Checked on 27 October 2026 against XPENG’s 2025 English LHD G6 manual for XOS V5.8.0, printed pages 204–208. Chinese-market owner reports identify the question; they do not establish a common defect, a guaranteed fix, or matching export equipment. Stop if your car’s controls differ.
Open the tailgate to a safe desired angle, then hold its internal bottom switch until the flash confirmation appears. Alternatively, use Settings → Window & Door → Trunk Unfolding Angle Memory.
Before you start
Park on a suitable surface with space behind and above the car. Keep people and objects outside the moving tailgate’s path. Establish the desired height without letting the panel touch a ceiling, pipe or other obstruction.
Store and test a safe opening angle
Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.
Check the result
The tailgate should stop at the stored angle. A minimum allowable height applies, so an excessively low position may not be stored as chosen. The memory cannot account for changes in slope, loading, suspension position or the obstruction above the car.
Chinese owner report — anecdotal context
A Chinese G6 owner reported paint damage after the tailgate contacted an overhead fire pipe. That incident supports checking clearance rather than assuming anti-pinch behaviour prevents every collision. Report dated 2023-09-18; domestic-market anecdote.
Common questions
Does height memory remove the need to look above the car?+
No. Check the complete opening path each time, particularly in unfamiliar garages.
Can I store any very low angle?+
The manual says a position below the allowable minimum is saved at the minimum setting instead.

Operating steps are checked against manufacturer documentation; Chinese owner discussions are labelled as anecdotal reports. They identify questions, not the prevalence or cause of a fault. Reviewed on 27 October 2026. This is a source-based guide, not a claim of hands-on vehicle testing.
