How to enable automatic phone-key locking and unlocking on an XPENG G6

When a G6 unlocks from the app but does not respond as you approach or leave, check whether automatic phone-key operation is enabled. Authorization and automatic access settings are different parts of the setup.

Checked on 27 October 2026 against XPENG’s 2025 English LHD G6 manual for XOS V5.8.0, printed pages 190–191, 193. Chinese-market owner reports identify the question; they do not establish a common defect, a guaranteed fix, or matching export equipment. Stop if your car’s controls differ.

THE QUICK ANSWER

With the Bluetooth phone key already activated, enable Automatic unlocking and locking in the XPENG app. Keep the app running with the permissions specified for your phone, then verify the car actually locks before leaving.

Before you start

Keep a physical key outside the vehicle during setup. Ensure the phone’s battery is healthy, Bluetooth is enabled, and doors, bonnet and tailgate can close fully. Test in a clear parking area rather than assuming a crowded garage is a reliable signal test.

Enable and test automatic operation

Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.

Check the result

Confirm that the lock indication appears every time. An enabled switch is not proof that a particular departure locked the vehicle. If operation remains intermittent, reopen the app and run Key Check instead of repeatedly deleting keys.

Chinese owner report — anecdotal context

A domestic G6 owner described automatic connection behaviour changing after family access was added. That individual account does not establish that authorization causes the problem on international cars. Report dated 2023-12-18; domestic-market anecdote.

Common questions

Can battery-saving mode matter?+

Yes. The manual lists a low phone battery and power-saving mode among conditions affecting automatic key operation.

Can I leave without checking the lock?+

Verify that the car has locked. Automatic operation can be affected by permissions, signal obstruction or an incompletely closed door.
