How to put the XPENG G6 front wipers in maintenance position
Use the G6’s maintenance mode before lifting the front wipers for inspection or blade replacement. Pulling the arms up from their parked position can put the wipers or surrounding bodywork at risk.
Checked on 27 October 2026 against XPENG’s 2025 English LHD G6 manual for XOS V5.8.0, printed pages 320–322. Chinese-market owner reports identify the question; they do not establish a common defect, a guaranteed fix, or matching export equipment. Stop if your car’s controls differ.
With the G6 in P and the wipers switched off, close the bonnet and driver’s door. Open Settings → Vehicle and enable Front Wiper Maintenance Mode. Let the arms stop in the maintenance position before touching them.
Before you start
Choose a safe parking place and remove loose ice or debris without forcing a frozen blade. Keep hands clear while the arms move. If you intend to remove a blade, use the correct replacement and protect the glass from a bare arm snapping down.
Move the arms using the display
Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.
Check the result
Confirm that the blades sit correctly against the glass and the arms return normally. If a new blade is fitted, verify its locking engagement before a wet wipe test. Persistent noise after cleaning or correct replacement should be assessed by service.
Chinese owner report — anecdotal context
A Chinese G6 service report describes a noisy front wiper and an oily film after wiping. Those symptoms can justify inspection, but this guide only covers the manufacturer’s safe access position. Report dated 2023-09-15; domestic-market anecdote.
Common questions
Is rear-wiper maintenance the same setting?+
No. The manual provides a separate Rear Wiper Maintenance Mode.
Can I lower an arm without its blade?+
Protect the glass and fit the correct blade first. A bare spring-loaded arm can damage the windscreen.
