How to open and close the XPENG G6 charging-port flap
The G6 charging-port flap is powered. Use its control instead of bending or pushing the panel through its movement, especially if you are learning the charging process for the first time.
Checked on 27 October 2026 against XPENG’s 2025 English LHD G6 manual for XOS V5.8.0, printed pages 296–298. Chinese-market owner reports identify the question; they do not establish a common defect, a guaranteed fix, or matching export equipment. Stop if your car’s controls differ.
On the central display, open Settings → Window & Door and select Charging Port, or use Charging Port in the swipe-down shortcut panel. After charging, replace the port’s sealing cap and use the normal close control.
Before you start
Park in P with clear access to the charging side. Check that no connector or other object blocks the flap. Do not open or close it against ice or a cable, and never use a pressure washer to operate the flap-switch area.
Use the powered flap controls
Tick steps as you go. Your progress stays in this tab.
Check the result
The flap should sit closed without a warning. The manual also describes automatic closing under certain conditions, but verify the cover yourself. If it resists normal operation, stop and check the matching manual or service rather than forcing the mechanism.
Chinese owner report — anecdotal context
A first-time G6 owner in China describes almost forcing the powered flap before finding its closing control. The account is used to explain the question, not as evidence about failure rates. Report dated 2026-09-06; domestic-market anecdote.
Common questions
Can I pull or push it shut by hand?+
Use the normal powered controls; do not force the flap through its travel.
Should I leave the sealing cap off?+
No. The manual instructs replacing it after charging to keep foreign matter out of the port.
